Its not for barbarians

Made it down to the Barbican centre last week to see 'There will be Blood' which will have to be a different post. I loved the building. It was greys and oranges and this crazy 80's feel that is actually still hip today. It was definitely Guggenheim inspired.
I found two things a bit strange about the place though.
  1. The pure fact that I could honestly see a film, the theatre, attend a conference, go through an art gallery and see something entirely random all in one building. It just seems so inspiring that so much culture can exist in a building. REally Barbican appeals to everyone.
  2. It's sponsored by law firms. Summarized 8 out of the 10 sponsors were top law firms. I was surprised that there was not much diversity in sponsors. You would think that city firms would jump on sponsoring something so simple. Maybe not.
