Demon Barber on Fleet Street

Did anyone else notice similarities to a Shakespearean tragedy? With a bit more blood? Tim Burton was on form though. Artistically, it had his stamp though - and it was fantastic. As well, the view of London was incredible. It made it all the more surreal that I live in the movie's setting and know the cobble streets they walk down. There may have been no Mrs. Lovett's meat pies, but the opening sequence of Tower Bridge in the dark is exactly how I envision London so many years ago.

On a sidenote, I went to see it on Saturday night in the Angel theatre. I was surprised at how much you had to pay for such a small theatre. I think the rest of my viewings will be at the Clapham picture house. At least it had the bonus of being kitschy and had reclining seats.

Just as appealing if not more so- sushi on a conveyor belt afterwards.
