In 1969, you were able to purchase LIONS in the London Harrods pet department. It was legal. No, not a lion stuffed animal. A real lion cub. Thankfully, some of the animals were rescued in the seventies from their basement abodes. The lion below made it from a Chelsea basement back to a Kenyan reserve.

You could also purchase a puma, giraffe, zebra or cheetah until the late 1970s.
