I gather it takes a while to clearly communicate your thoughts via this online tool, so I apologize for my ramblings, side notes and nonsensical musings in advance. As the title suggests, I am starting this blog as I have now moved to London, England from good old Ottawa. I figured this was a way to avoid sending mass emails that often include people who you thought would want to read your daily adventures, but really delete the email the instant it hits their inbox. Also I figured I could make my parents hip by telling them to check up on me via my blog. Yes, you can be hip too by reading a blog. As well, I can post pictures which allows me to not fill someone's inbox when once again, they would rather delete my name. Blogs are far more the reader's choice, and therefore fits my bill. The least intrusive, the better.
I officially live in Clapham. I have a new apartment or flat as it is called, but I already miss the old one. (It was a 10 ft ceiling one-bedroom walk-up that actually felt like a home, not just a space that I reside) My roommate is great and I do enjoy how everything is so close, but it will take a while to have it feel like home. However, I have become a hobbit in the new apartment. I have a dreadful cold and that has floored me considerably. I've watched some bad TV that is about three seasons ago. I take comfort that Buckingham Palace isn't going anywhere at least and that I can take it easy for my first few days. Also, I've become a hacker and got some security enabled internet for free.
Last night was my first venture past Clapham. I headed up to Picadilly Circus and Covenant Gardens. Picadilly Circus is just a mess of everything and getting lost is unavoidable. However, getting lost in the Gardens was far more enjoyable as I ended up at the Royal Ballet Academy. I was thrilled to see so many ballets offered. There is never a break! See the above picture for the building. I love the mix of traditional and modern architecture via a bridge. So simple.
I'm still getting settled with a constant devotion to job hunting, and used to the euphanisms, nuances, and general witty remarks that I am unfamiliar with. I assume I will have many more days to explore. I am going to overwhelm my senses and, most likely, my sensibilities.
My goal is to post on Mondays and Thursdays. I hope I can keep that up!

Hey Shannon!
I feel privileged to be the first one to comment on your new blog…:)
It’s a great idea, and hopefully you stick to your schedule so we can find out how you’re doing on the other side of the world.
Sorry to hear about your cold, but I’m glad to see it hasn’t dampened your spirits.
Did you end up meeting Sarah? You mentioned getting lost…so I wonder!
You haven’t missed much in Ottawa since you left (aside from a sexual assault and strike at Carleton!).
Take good care of yourself in London, and keep us posted on your adventures.
Julie
Shannon!!
How very high-tech of you! :)
I've already msged you via facebook, but I thought you'd like to gather comments on your blog!
It's a great idea! I hope to hear all about your adventures!
I am sorry you are sick, but I'm going to come visit you and make you do all the touristy things :) I'm sure you'll do everything before then, but at least you know you've got plans in the future.
Not much to report here. The new place is pretty good. Almost finished unpacking...it's starting to feel like home.
I have to tell you though, I walk by our lunchtime starbucks and see that same guy who never gets the orders right...it's just a nice reminder of the good times ;)
Anyway, take care - I miss you.
Katherine

(Sorry)
Great first post and first picture!! I can't believe that bridge is in London, I've been envying that thing for months now - so jealous.... Oh well - I miss you, love you and hope you're not paralized with missing me (I know you are, even if you don't admit as much).
